Since the entertainment industry in this country is run by liberals, Donald Trump has had a very difficult time convincing singers to perform at his inauguration, as they see it as a risk to their careers.
Now, the full list of singers that have refused invitations to perform at Trump’s inauguration has been released, and it’s downright staggering. Here’s the full list so far, according to Daily Beast:
Elton John – “Elton will not be performing a Trump inauguration,” said his spokesman after rumors swirled that he had indeed been booked for the inauguration. This came after John himself seemed to praise Trump by saying, “This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay-rights stance.”
Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Aretha Franklin – “Insiders” with Trump’s inauguration team told The Wrap that they had their “sights set on top-tier talents like Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and Aretha Franklin, and were willing to pay steep fees for the performers.” However, it now appears that all four of them declined their invitations.
Celine Dion – Trump’s friend, Las Vegas hotelier Steve Wynn, reportedly promised Trump that he could get Celine Dion to perform at the inauguration. However, Wynn has since denied this, saying through a spokesman, “Mr. Wynn was not asked to book specific performers for the inauguration, nor did he ever a make a commitment to find specific performers. So the reports are false.”
Garth Brooks – This country music star seemed open to the idea at first, saying, “It’s always about serving. It’s what you do.” However, The Wrap reported that he has since declined the invitation.
Andrea Bocelli – The Italian singer was personally approached by Trump to perform at the inauguration. However, after getting “too much heat” from fans on social media, complete with the #BoycottBocelli hashtag, he decided to back out.
KISS – Earlier this year, KISS frontman Gene Simmons described Trump as “the truest political animal I’ve ever seen onstage.” However, when he was asked if he will perform at the inauguration recently, Simmons said, “no,” before adding, “That’s not to say they didn’t ask.”
David Forster – He is known as the producers of hits like Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and Celine Dion’s “The Power of Love.” Over the weekend, he took to his Instagram to say, “For the record, I was asked to participate in the upcoming inauguration and I politely and respectfully declined.” The Washington Post reported that Forster had wanted to perform, but got too nervous about angering the donors to his charitable foundation, many of whom were Hillary Clinton supporters.
This could not be more different from Barack Obama’s inaugurations, which featured A-list performers like Beyonce and Aretha Franklin.
Frankly, we find it sickening that all of these A-list celebrities are refusing to perform for their new president. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
